Part 2: How to Use LipoLab—Preparation, Dosing, and Safe Injection Protocols

Step 1: Preparation & Setup

A. Professional Only

  • LipoLab should only be administered by licensed, trained professionals in Canada. DIY/self-injection is never recommended due to risk of complications.

B. Sterile Technique

  • Ensure a sterile working environment: disinfect surfaces, wash hands, wear gloves, and use new, sterile needles/syringes for each injection.

C. Client Assessment

  • Review medical history, allergies, medications, and confirm suitability (not for pregnant/nursing, severe liver/kidney disease, autoimmune disorders, or those with unrealistic expectations).

  • Obtain informed consent and discuss expected outcomes, risks, and required number of sessions.

Step 2: Dosing and Dilution

Standard LipoLab Vials:
Each vial usually contains 10 mL.

  • Typical Dosage Per Area:

    • Small zone (chin, jawline): 0.3–0.5 mL per injection point, total 2–4 mL per session.

    • Medium zone (upper arms, bra bulge): 0.5–1 mL per injection point, total 5–8 mL.

    • Large zone (abdomen, thighs): 1–2 mL per injection point, up to 10 mL max per session.

  • Spacing:
Injections are spaced 1.5–2 cm apart in a grid pattern over the treatment area.

  • Dilution:
Some practitioners dilute LipoLab with saline (1:1 ratio) to reduce irritation, especially in sensitive zones.

Protocol Example: Abdomen

  • Mark grid pattern with a skin-safe pen (1.5–2 cm apart).

  • Draw 8–10 mL from vial (diluted if desired).

  • Inject 1 mL per point, subcutaneously.

Step 3: Injection Technique

A. Needle Selection

  • Use 27–30 gauge, 13 mm (½ inch) needles for most areas.

  • For deeper or larger fat pads, a slightly longer needle (up to 25 mm) may be appropriate.

B. Injection Depth

  • Always inject into the subcutaneous fat, not muscle or dermis.

  • Pinch the skin to ensure accurate placement.

C. Angle & Method

  • Inject at 90° (perpendicular) for body; 45° for delicate or thin areas (jawline, chin).

  • Slowly deposit solution to avoid pressure build-up.

  • Do not overfill one site; never exceed 2 mL per point.

D. Max Volume

  • Never inject more than 10 mL total in one session.

  • If treating multiple areas, split into separate sessions to reduce risk of side effects.

Step 4: Post-Treatment Care

A. Immediate Aftercare

  • Apply a cold compress to reduce swelling.

  • Light massage may help disperse product, unless contraindicated.

  • Avoid vigorous exercise, hot showers, and saunas for 24 hours.

B. Short-Term Side Effects

  • Mild swelling, redness, bruising, or tenderness for 24–48 hours is common.

  • Small nodules may form but typically resolve within a week.

C. When to Seek Help

  • Signs of infection, severe pain, skin discoloration, or allergic reaction require immediate medical attention.

Step 5: Treatment Scheduling

  • Session Frequency: Every 1–2 weeks.

  • Number of Sessions: Most see best results after 3–8 treatments.

Professional Tips:

  • Take high-quality before/after photos to track progress.

  • Hydrate before and after treatment for better results.

  • Maintain healthy habits—LipoLab is not a replacement for diet/exercise.

Part 3 will cover advanced troubleshooting, combination treatments (stacking with other modalities), optimizing results, and answers to the most common client questions.
